Nicaragua has officially cut diplomatic ties with Israel, citing the ongoing violence in Gaza as the reason.

Rosario Murillo, Nicaragua’s Vice President, announced the decision, condemning the Israeli government as "fascist" and accusing it of committing "genocide" against the Palestinian people.

In a government statement, Nicaragua pointed to Israeli attacks on Palestinian territories as the catalyst for this move.

The decision follows a resolution passed by Nicaragua's National Assembly, urging the government to take action against Israel, coinciding with the anniversary of the Gaza conflict.

Nicaragua’s government expressed concerns over the broader implications of the conflict, which it stated has now extended to Lebanon and poses serious threats to Syria, Yemen, and Iran.

The situation in the Middle East has escalated further since Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel on October 1, raising fears of wider regional conflict.

The move by Nicaragua adds to the growing international condemnation of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, as countries and international organizations call for an end to the violence and heightened diplomatic efforts to restore peace in the region.
