New Giza University Hosts Distinguished Event for Fashion Students

Newgiza University held an exceptional event for fashion design students at the University School of Arts and Design (SOAD).

The event, Fashion Talks, took place over three days from 10 am to 4 pm.

A large number of prominent names and experts in the field of fashion took part in the event.

Participants also included professors from Moroccan, French, and Korean universities, Egyptian fashion designers, stylists, and men of industry and design.

The event was held at the Faculty of Arts and Design amid the attendee of the Dean of the Faculty Abeer Hassan Abdo.

Among the attendees were Mohanad Kojak, Waleed Khairy, Shira Zakzou, and Ghadir Alagabany.

It was organized by Dr. Mohamed Khafagi, Dr. Hazem Abdelfattah, and Dr. Doha Eldemerdash.

Online lectures were delivered for students by Susan Sabet, Founding Board Member and Secretary General of The Egyptian Fashion and Design Council, professors from France, America, and Korea.

The experience was very useful for the students who asked questions and gained global experiences.

*Workshop

One of the most wonderful lectures and workshops was given by internationally acclaimed designer Galina Mihaleva.

Mihaleva is an artist, fashion and wearable technology designer and educator, an associate professor at ASU FIDM, part of Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts.

She delivered a workshop titled "Explorations: Thermoplastic Textile Sculpting" and showed pictures of her designs created from the technique that was worn by celebrities at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

Also, Mrs. Linda Shili, Co-founder and Ceo Of Crea Studio School, presented the workshop "Rapid Design - Draping Techniques On The Mannequin", which was sponsored by Salem Alta Moda.

*Success Story

The Fashion Talks also shed light on the success stories of Egyptian designers whose designs have gone global and have been written about in international fashion magazines, namely Creative Director Mrs. Shahira Lasheen and Dand ina Shaker, founder and creative director of Dina Shaker brand.

The designers talked about their careers, challenges, and how to overcome them.

*Bridging Stylists And Designers

As the stylist is important in the fashion market and is responsible for the style of clothing, hair, makeup, and accessories, to achieve the desired image, Fashion Talks presented the panel "The Art of Collaboration: Bridging Stylists And Designers".

Mona El Tonsi, Costume designer, Celebrity stylist and curated of fashion design district, Mai Galal, Fashion and Styling expert and consultant, and Mrs. Jasmine Abdel Wahab, Co-founder of Moja Design Studio, took part in the panel.

The panel presented a remarkable opportunity for students to interact with top players who have a long history in the fashion and design industry market.

Since the fashion industry depends mainly on economics and management, not just creativity, art, and design, MD School of Fashion Management Mrs. Rania Ayman delivered an important lecture titled "Fashion Business Management", in which she spoke about pricing policies, alternative opportunities, and seizing opportunities.

These educating methods make studying arts a vast world of creativity and success.
