The New York Times, a US daily newspaper, reported, citing private sources, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to sign the final plan for the ground operation in Gaza, drawn up by the Israeli army leadership.
The newspaper revealed that “the Israeli army leadership had already drawn up the final invasion plan, but Netanyahu angered senior military officials by refusing to sign it.”
The sources considered that one of the reasons is that Netanyahu wants unanimous approval for the operation from members of the emergency government that was formed after the Hamas attack.
This comes at a time when the escalation between the Palestinian Hamas movement and the Israeli forces continues after factions of the Palestinian resistance launched, at dawn on Saturday, October 7, the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation.
In that operation, thousands of rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel.
The Palestinian fighters stormed Israeli settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip and captured a large number of Israeli military and civilians.
