A new "Van Helsing" movie is in the works at Universal Pictures, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
Universal Pictures and producer James Wan have signed with "Overlord" director Julius Avery to direct the new movie.
Avery has also been hired to rewrite the script originally written by Eric Pearson.
This new Van Helsing movie is not the only monster movie in the works at Universal. Also, a "Wolfman" movie starring Ryan Gosling and a Dracula movie will be arriving from director Karyn Kusama.
No specific plot details have been revealed yet.
Universal is developing the project as a horror/thriller, which will be set in the world of the titular Van Helsing.
Wan will produce the untitled film via his Atomic Monster Banner, along with Michael Clear. Atomic Monster's Judson Scott will serve as executive producer.
Atomic Monster’s upcoming slate includes "Aquaman 2", "Malignant", "There’s Someone Inside Your House", "Mortal Kombat", and "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It".
In television, the company’s slate includes "MacGyver", "Swamp Thing", "Archive 81", and "I Know What You Did Last Summer".
It's been more than a decade since the audience had to think about "Van Helsing" in the cinematic sense.

Here’s everything you need to know about Van Helsing:
Abraham Van Helsing, a fictional character from the 1897 gothic horror novel Dracula.
The novel compiled from letters, diary entries, and other informative scraps, which reveal Van Helsing to be an old teacher to one of the book’s main characters: Dr. John Seward.
His expertise is called upon to diagnose a seriously ill Lucy Westenra, which he soon recognizes as a classic case of vampirism.
He is a very intelligent man and a crucial figure in Dracula’s defeat, but not a “vampire hunter” by trade, however, he had prior knowledge of how to treat a vampire bite, prescribed Lucy with garlic and giving her a crucifix but ultimately failing to save her life.
After Lucy’s death, he teams up with her friends to track Dracula back to Romania where they strike against him.
Van Helsing kills three vampiric women he encounters in the Count’s Transylvanian castle, however, he isn't the one who kills Dracula, which is ironic given their now established relationship as archenemies.
