A new trailer was released on Wednesday for Jennifer Hudson's long-awaited Aretha Franklin biopic "Respect".

The movie also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Mary J. Blige, Tituss Burgess, Kimberly Scott, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, Tate Donovan, and others.

"Respect" is written by Tracey Scott Wilson and directed by Liesl Tommy.

The biographical drama follows the rise of Franklin's career from a childhood spent singing in the choir at her father’s (Whitaker) church to an international superstar.

The late soul legend endorsed Hudson to portray her in a biopic before she passed away in 2018 of pancreatic cancer at age 76.

"Respect" is set to hit the theaters on August 13.

In an interview with "Good Morning America", Hudson opened about her 15-year-journey toward bringing Franklin's story to the silver screen, revealing they had their "first conversation" about the project "right after I won my Oscar for Dreamgirls" in 2006.

Hudson added she and Franklin spoke weekly about her life.
