Severe floods struck central Greece on Wednesday for the second time this month, with the city of Volos being particularly affected.
This comes after a previous storm resulted in the tragic loss of 17 lives and widespread damage.
Authorities imposed travel restrictions in Volos, a city with nearly 140,000 residents, as the storm "Elias" made landfall.
Villages surrounding the city were evacuated in response to the situation.
This storm, the second to hit the country in three weeks, also caused flooding on the island of Evia near Athens.
In early September, central Greece experienced devastation due to heavy rainfall caused by the storm "Daniel," which affected crops and resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of animals. This region is the heart of Greek agricultural production.
Regarding this, the Minister of Agriculture, Lefteris Avgiannakis, stated on Wednesday that "clean-up teams have removed over 180,000 carcasses of cattle and poultry, but it is still impossible to access other carcasses of dead cattle."
The crops destroyed by the storm include cotton, corn, wheat, apples, and kiwi.
