According to a Xinhua report, a new study highlighting the global relevance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization was unveiled on Friday at the Global Panda Partners Conference 2025 in Chengdu, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
The publication, “Joining Hands to Advance Toward an Eco-Friendly Modernization: The Theoretical Contributions and Practical Leadership of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization to Global Sustainable Development,” was jointly prepared by the National High-Level Think Tank of Xinhua News Agency and the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization.
The think tank document, running roughly 16,000 characters and structured in three major sections, provides an in-depth assessment of how Xi’s ecological philosophy expands and enriches global theories of sustainable development.
It also outlines China’s policies, practical experiences, and international initiatives aimed at advancing sustainability worldwide, urging collective action to build a shared ecological civilization.
Xinhua reports that, guided by this framework, China continues to follow its unique path to modernization, one defined by the balanced coexistence between humanity and nature, while assuming its role as a major global actor committed to participating in, contributing to, and shaping the development of global ecological civilization.
This commitment, the report notes, brings a high degree of stability to global sustainable development efforts.
The study highlights that China’s progress in green development has been supported by strong national commitment, institutional innovation, scientific and technological advances, and a focus on mutually beneficial cooperation.
Together, these elements constitute a comprehensive and effective body of Chinese experience that can serve as a reference for other nations.
Looking ahead, China pledges to continue upholding openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, taking practical steps to support global sustainable development and pursuing eco-friendly modernization in partnership with countries around the world.
The release ceremony in Chengdu was chaired by Lyu Yansong, editor-in-chief of Xinhua News Agency and deputy director of the think tank’s academic committee.
The report was also launched the same day at the Global South Modernization Forum in Beijing.
