Sony Pictures is developing a new movie adaptation of the classic "Bewitched" TV sitcom, which was also behind the 2005 version starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.
The series ran from 1964 to 1972 centering around Samantha, a witch (Elizabeth Montgomery), who marries Darrin, a mortal (Dick York and later Dick Sargent), and then attempts to become a suburban housewife.
The upcoming movie reboot will be written by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, which will be produced by Davis Entertainment through John Davis and John Fox.
The studio, which owns the sitcom's rights, attempted to create TV remakes of the "Bewitched" at CBS in 2011-12 and at NBC in 2014, but it did not move forward.
