Netherlands Rejects US Sanctions on ICC

The Netherlands has voiced strong opposition to new US sanctions targeting officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp said on Wednesday that his country fully rejects Washington’s latest measures against the court. 

Writing on X, he stressed that the Netherlands gives its full support to the ICC and underlined the importance of allowing independent international judicial bodies to operate without obstruction.

As both a member state and the host nation of the court, the Netherlands remains fully committed to ensuring that the ICC can carry out its work as effectively and independently as possible, Veldkamp added.

Earlier in the day, the US State Department announced additional sanctions on the ICC, describing the court as a continuing threat to American and Israeli nationals.
