The Dutch government has announced plans to allocate €3.5 billion in aid to Ukraine as part of its continued support amid the ongoing conflict.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof confirmed the funding commitment during a session in the House of Representatives, emphasizing that the Netherlands will maintain its current level of support for Ukraine.

He stressed the significance of this financial aid, highlighting its crucial role in assisting the country.

The decision has sparked political debate within the Netherlands. Far-right MP Gideon van Meijeren, from the Forum for Democracy party, criticized the government's stance, arguing that supporting Ukraine makes the Netherlands a potential target for Russia.

He urged the government to prioritize national interests and advocate for negotiations to end the conflict rather than supplying Ukraine with weapons.
