Netflix has renewed the live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series for two more seasons.

The series follows Aang, a young Avatar who learns to master the four elements of water, earth, fire, and air to restore balance to a world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation.

The official logline reads: “Alongside his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai. But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task,”.

Gordon Cormier leads the series as Aang alongside Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh, Casey Camp-Horinek as Gran Gran, the grandmother of Sokka and Katara, Arden Cho as bounty hunter June, Maria Zhang as Kyoshi warrior, Sebastien Amoruso as the rebel from the Earth Kingdom Jet, Utkarsh Ambudkar as King Bumi, and Danny Pudi as The Mechanist.

Since the series' February 22 debut, the series has been Netflix’s top English-language TV show with 41.1 million views.

While the first season has eight episodes, there is no word yet on the episode count of the final two seasons, however, the series will conclude the story of Aang’s journey to become the Avatar in a fantastical world.

Albert Kim serves as showrunner and executive producer. Michael Goi and Jabbar Raisani both direct and serve as executive producers alongside Rideback’s Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore. Other directors include co-executive producer Roseanne Liang and Jet Wilkinson.

The reimagining is unaffiliated with Avatar Studios, which was created at Paramount by the original “Last Airbender” creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko after they exited the Netflix adaptation exited due to creative differences.

Kim previously released a statement addressing the adaptation of the beloved animated series, writing, “A live-action version can not only faithfully translate what had been done in animation — it can bring a rich new visual dimension to a fantastic world. We’ll be able to see bending in a real and visceral way we’ve never seen before.”
