Netflix unveiled Monday the first trailer of "Fear Street Part Two: 1978", the second chapter in the horror-inspired R.L. Stine’s bestselling horror books.
"Part One: 1994", the first installment in the trilogy, premiered last Friday on the streaming giant, a trend that will continue in "Part Two: 1978" and “Part 3: 1666”.
Part Two and Three will debut on Netflix on July 9 and July 16, respectively. Each chapter of the trilogy tells a tale of its own, yet all the stories are connected to the same source of evil.
“Fear Street Part 2” will take place in 1978 at Shadyside at Camp Nightwing during the summer. But the fun in the sun becomes a gruesome fight for survival when another residence is possessed with the urge to kill.
The new trailer teases more details about Sarah Fier, the witch who is believed to be behind every serial killer attack in Shadyside. By going back in time, the second movie will delve further into what is happening in 1994, the starting point of the trilogy.
The movie stars Sadie Sink, Olivia Welch, Emily Rudd, Ryan Simpkins, Ashley Zukerman, Gillian Jacobs, Kiana Madeira, Jordana Spiro, and more.
Leigh Janiak directs from a screenplay co-written with Zak Olkewicz and from an original story by Olkewicz, Phil Graziadei, and Janiak.
Stine, best known for the kid-friendly “Goosebumps” series, debuted the teen-oriented “Fear Street” in 1989.
The “Goosebumps” series was highly popular among younger children, while Fear Street was a favorite amongst young teens.
“Fear Street” was adapted into a miniseries called “Fear Street Nights” in 2005 and resurfaced again in 2014.
