Netflix to produce 1st Egyptian Series

US streaming service Netflix announced on Monday it would produce the first Egyptian series dubbed Ma Waraa Al Tabiaa (Beyond Nature), which is based on series of novels written by late author Ahmed Khaled Tawfik.

The Egyptian series, Netflix’s third original Middle East series, will be produced by Mohamed Hafez, and Amr Salama.

“Netflix announces their third original Middle East series, and first Egyptian one based on a series of horror novels “Beyond nature,” written by the late author. It will be produced by Mohamed Hafez, and Amr Salama,” Netflix tweeted.

“I am proud to work with Netflix to develop such a glorious series. I am also very happy to cooperate again with my friend producer Amr Salama,” Mohamed Hefzy, Egyptian screenwriter and producer,said.

“I am confident that together with Netflix we will work to present an Egyptian series at international standards that well suited to Egyptian and Arab drama,” he added.

Producer Amr Salama has expressed his enthusiasm for this work. “I am very excited about this project. My dream since I began my carrier is to turn “Beyond nature” series novels into a drama, and to present it in a different vision,” he said.

 Ahmed Khaled Tawfik

Tawfik, an influential Egyptian author, was born in 1962. He died in April 2018 at the age of 55. Tawfik is the first Egyptian writer to specialize in horror and science fiction.
