Netflix released a movie about Jesus, in December, which sparked widespread anger at the network, that it caused heavy losses and lost thousands of subscribers to its service.
Netflix began screening the "The First Seduction of Christ" movie on December 3, when it portrayed Jesus and his mother in a way that many considered "inappropriate", angering millions around the world.
Meanwhile, two million people around the world signed a petition calling on Netflix to stop showing the 46-minute film, and they called on the network to withdraw it from its offerings and not to compromise religious sanctities.
Porta dos Fundos, the Brazilian YouTube comedy group
The film was produced by the Brazilian "Porta dos Fondos" a comedy channel on YouTube, founded by five artists in 2012, it has more than 16 million subscribers.
On other hand, Twitter platform was ignited by tweets that refused to violate religious beliefs, notably the tweet of the son of the current Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, who reported in it "We respect freedom of expression, but is it worth attacking the belief of about 86% of the people?".
Also, the "Porta dos Fondos" founders explained that they value artistic freedom and humour through satire on the most perse cultural themes of our society and believes that freedom of expression is an essential construction for a democratic country.
Noteworthy, Brazil is a deeply religious country of about 200m people where homophobia is common and both the Catholic Church and the evangelical Christian movement frequently criticise LGBTQ+ rights.
