Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's scheduled flight to Washington was delayed Monday, with no new departure time announced and no explanation provided, according to the Prime Minister's Office.
The aircraft had been scheduled to depart at 11 a.m. local time.
The visit is expected to include high-level talks with U.S. President Donald Trump focusing on regional developments and bilateral cooperation. According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu planned to emphasize the need to topple Iran's ruling regime during the meeting.
The two leaders were also expected to discuss the latest regional and international developments, coordinate positions on issues of mutual interest, and strengthen the strategic partnership between Israel and the United States.
On Sunday evening, Netanyahu addressed comments made by New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani during an interview with Fox News. Mamdani has said Netanyahu should be arrested as a war criminal if he visits New York for the United Nations General Assembly because of Israel's military campaign in Gaza.
Netanyahu rejected the remarks, accusing Mamdani of inciting hatred, and said he intends to travel to New York in September to address the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations despite suggestions that he would not be welcome in the city.
Netanyahu had been expected to arrive in Washington on Monday for talks with Trump and to attend the funeral of the late Republican senator Lindsey Graham, whom the Israeli leader described as "a great patriot" and "one of Israel's dearest friends" for his longstanding support of Israel and strong positions on defense.
