Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel has agreed to a limited reopening of the Rafah crossing for "human passage only," subject to a full Israeli oversight mechanism.
Netanyahu’s office clarified that the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing would operate under complete Israeli monitoring and control.
The office further stated that Israel remains committed to the return of the remains of hostage Ran Gvili from Gaza and will spare no effort to bring him back to Israel.
Meanwhile, Israeli media outlets reported that the decision to reopen the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing came following significant US pressure and Egypt’s firm refusal to accept Netanyahu’s conditions regarding a permanent Israeli military presence inside the crossing.
