Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu spoke, ober phone, with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Israel’s new plans to launch an offensive on Gaza.
According to Netanyahu’s office, “The two discussed Israel’s plans to take control of the remaining Hamas strongholds in Gaza Strip to end the war by securing the release of hostages and defeating Hamas,” Reuters reported.
Earlier, Palestinian movement Hamas said that the Israeli PM's statements were a blatant attempt to absolve his state and army of internationally documented crimes of genocide and starvation.
Hamas added that Netanyahu is exploiting the hostage file to justify the aggression, despite killing dozens of them and reneging on exchange agreements.
“We were one step away from reaching a prisoner exchange deal, but Netanyahu withdrew from the last round of negotiations,” the movement said.
