Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with former U.S. President Donald Trump in the first half of February, prior to the conclusion of the first phase of a prisoner exchange deal, according to Israeli media.
The ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, announced after more than 15 months of a devastating war in the Gaza Strip that caused unprecedented destruction and a severe humanitarian crisis, is set to take effect.
The first phase of the agreement, lasting 42 days, involves a ceasefire, the withdrawal and repositioning of Israeli occupation forces away from densely populated areas, the exchange of hostages and detainees, the return of remains of the deceased, the return of internally displaced persons to their homes in Gaza, facilitating the exit of the injured and ill for treatment, and the intensification of secure and efficient humanitarian aid distribution across the Gaza Strip, according to an official statement from the mediators.
