The Israeli government agreed, on Sunday, to abolish the Ministry of Information, after the resignation of Minister Galit Distel last week, and to transfer the ministry’s funds to the reconstruction of the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip.
The Ynet website said that it had been approved to transfer the ministry's budget of 23.8 million shekels to rehabilitate the settlements around Gaza.
The Israeli official broadcasting authority (Kan) reported the resignation of the Minister of Information in Netanyahu’s government, Galit Destel Atbarian, from her position, on the sixth day of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation launched by the “Al-Qassam Brigades,” the military wing of the Hamas movement, on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
The resignation of Distal, from the Likud Party, is the first in Netanyahu's government since the start of the war with the Gaza Strip.
The Knesset had previously approved the "emergency government", which was joined by the "State Camp" party, led by the Minister of Defense and former Army Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, and former Minister Gideon Sa'ar.
