Ukrainian Chargé d’Affaires in Egypt, Ruslan Nechai, recommended Cairo to host Ukraine-Russia peace talks in case of a ceasefire imposed between both countries, adding that any country can host the meeting such as Turkey or Israel, asserting that Egypt is capable of hosting the event.

Nechai continued that Ukraine is a shield for all of Europe against the Russian expansion in the continent, asserting that Russia intends to invade more Baltic countries as well as Poland.

Speaking to Egyptian reporters, Nechai referred to the US-Ukraine ties, describing that the US is a strategic partner for Ukraine, and the country is still receiving assistance and support from the US in terms of military aid, weapons, and funds, alongside sanctions imposed by several states such as Britain, Japan, and Australia.

Recalling the Russian behaviors against Ukraine in 2014, the official explained that today’s situation differed from 2014 as the previous president, Viktor Yanukovych, was a Russia-ally, unlike President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is backing his homeland.

Regarding the Egyptian community in Kyiv, Nechai reported that there are 3500 students, and 6000 persons living in Ukraine who want to return to Egypt. The Egyptian Embassy in Kyiv, in coordination with authorities in Poland or Romania, will facilitate their trip back home.

On the other hand, 16,000 tourists are in Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Alam, and Hurghada, and they will be sent back to their country via the mutual borders between Europe and Ukraine.

Finally, he concluded that Russian President Vladimir still dreams of reviving the Russian Empire once again by invading Ukraine as it is a vital part of the history of Russia, and without Kyiv, there would be no Russian Empire.
