Counselor Lasheen Ibrahim, the head of the National Elections Authority, died Friday in a private hospital in Cairo, as a result of being infected with the novel coronavirus, according to local media reports.

Ibrahim contracted Covid-19 more than 20 days ago.
He will be buried in his birthplace in the city of Benha, after the afternoon prayer today.
Ibrahim, who graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1980, and worked for the Public Prosecution immediately after his graduation.
Then, he joined the judiciary until he reached the position of Public Defender in the Public Funds Prosecution Office.
According to a presidential decree issued in October 2017, No. 503 of 2017, he was chosen to head the National Elections Authority.
