NCRI: Iran Regime Fractures Signal Fear of Uprising

Hossein Abedini, Deputy Representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated that the unprecedented and deep rifts appearing within Tehran's power hierarchy—as revealed by the regime’s own media—confirm the political and diplomatic deadlock following the death of Khamenei.

He noted that the regime is futilely attempting to use the ongoing external war as a smokescreen to prevent an explosion of popular rage.

Abedini said: "The open conflict we witness today between regime factions, and the shift of hardliners from the halls of parliament to digital platforms to launch treason campaigns against the diplomatic team, is definitive proof of the disintegration of the regime's authority. Amidst the devastating impact of the current external war, this is a desperate attempt to escape the inevitable collapse of the Velayat-e Faqih system, which is now drawing its final breaths."

He added: "The proposal of fantastical and impossible conditions for ending the war—such as the demand by Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security Committee, for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council with veto power, or Abbasi’s calls to seize the Strait of Hormuz and permanently remove the nuclear file from negotiations—are merely tools to stoke conflict and block diplomatic paths. These tactics aim to mask the fragility of the domestic front and prevent the spark of a massive uprising."

Abedini continued: "Statements by Mullah Qasemian, an associate of the deceased Khamenei’s inner circle, who welcomes the end of the 'no war, no peace' status and views the return of war as a 'divine demand,' clearly reveals that the regime uses the war as a cover for its political suffocation. The authorities fully realize that ending the war means facing a direct and inevitable popular confrontation, which explains the mutual accusations of betrayal between the ruling factions."

He explained: "Attempts to portray the 'Position of the Guardian' as a center for unity in the absence of the tyrant Ali Khamenei are delusions that fool no one. The crumbling regime is trying to rally around a dead authority, while the 'Resistance Units' and the Iranian people inside the country are preparing to deliver the final blow to the remaining structure of oppression, capitalizing on the military and diplomatic erosion the regime has suffered across the region."

Abedini emphasized: "The regime’s resort to escalating domestic repression—recently manifested in the criminal execution of eight members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), including Vahid Bani Amerian and Abolhassan Montazer—is a pathetic attempt to intimidate society and prevent the people from joining the Liberation Army at a time when the regime faces a severe internal split over how to manage its survival crisis."

Abedini concluded his statement by saying: "The only solution to end this dark era is what Mrs. Maryam Rajavi has announced: the formation of a Provisional Government based on the 10-point plan to transition sovereignty to the Iranian people. Iran today does not need desperate military adventures; it needs a democratic republic that ends the mullahs' tyranny and establishes lasting peace and true stability in the region."
