NATO: Member-States Agree to Grant Ukraine Membership

Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) announced that the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine, which will start at Ramstein Air Base in Germany today, Friday, will discuss providing various types of aircraft to Kyiv.

This came in statements made by Stoltenberg on Friday morning upon his arrival at the meeting, in which representatives of about 50 countries are participating.

Stoltenberg said: "As for the aircraft, some NATO countries - Poland and Slovakia - have delivered a number of MiG-29s to Kyiv, and there is a discussion about providing other types of aircraft, and this will be discussed at the meeting today."

Stoltenberg stressed that "all NATO allies agree that Ukraine should become a member of the alliance."
