The general secretariat of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO) announced that it had invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to participate in its next summit, to be held in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, on July 11-12.
"We are looking forward to meeting Zelensky at the Vilnius summit in July," said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, after a meeting of foreign ministers of the NATO countries, which was attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered his " sincere congratulations" to Finland after joining NATO, considering that the latter is "the only effective guarantee of security in the region" in the face of "Russian aggression."
"My sincere congratulations to Finland and President Sauli Niinisto on joining NATO," Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
Ukraine, in turn, aspires to join the military alliance that includes the United States and many European countries.
