Cuba has experienced a new nationwide power outage, according to an announcement by the state-run electricity company.
Officials said the blackout was caused by a “complete shutdown of the national grid,” adding that efforts are currently underway to restore electricity across the island.
The country, home to approximately 9.6 million people, has been grappling with recurring power outages for more than two years.
In some cases, disruptions have lasted for several consecutive days, placing additional strain on residents and infrastructure.
Earlier this month, nearly two-thirds of the country, including the capital Havana, was affected by a widespread blackout, highlighting the ongoing challenges facing Cuba’s energy sector.
Authorities have not yet provided a specific timeline for the full restoration of power, as repair operations continue.
