National Council for Women (NCW), headed by Dr. Maya Morsi honored on Monday the "train lady", Safia Abou El-Azm, in recognition of her humanitarian gesture towards an army conscript.
The Egyptian lady stepped in to buy a ticket for a young soldier who was being rebuked by the train chief and supervisor and was about to be thrown off halfway through his journey.
The confrontation and her kind act was caught on video and captured the hearts of all Egyptians.
On her part, Morsi expressed happiness for hosting this lady at NCW headquarters, stressing that she represents an honorable model for all Egyptian women.
Morsi also handed over the lady the council shield, a flower bouquet, as well as the decision of her appointment as a member of NCW branch in Al-Gharbiya governorate.
It is worth mentioning that, at a ceremony held for retired army officers yesterday, Mohamed Zaki, the defense minister, honored El-Azm, according to the "Arab News" website.
