The National Alliance for Civil Development Work held an urgent meeting to determine the priorities of the social protection plan, which has been extended until the end of 2022, upon directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
All members of the National Alliance believe in the need to support the social protection plan, and to complement the efforts made during the holy month of Ramadan, which succeeded in providing support to 8 million families with a value of LE 2 billion, by providing all kinds of food, cash and medical support.
During the meeting, it was agreed to pide efforts over the next eight months into three main axes, including food, medical and social support, at a cost of more than LE 5.5 billion from the budget of partner institutions and associations in the Alliance, each according to its annual work plan.
The second phase of the Alliance's first initiatives is scheduled to start on May 5, 2022 in 27 governorates.
It was also agreed on the objectives of the coming period by all members to draw an integrated work map features at the level of 27 governorates.
It is expected that more than 9 million families will benefit during the next eight months, provided that the work plan of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work will be reinforced with the participation of a larger number of Egyptian civil society institutions and NGOs, with the aim of reaching more poor citizens and supporting development plans in all governorates Egypt.
In parallel, members of the National Alliance agreed on a working draft of the proposed legislative amendments, which would support civil society institutions to exercise their efforts in a more flexible and effective manner.
The members of the Alliance also agreed, in compliance with the decisions of President Sisi, on the need to start a quick dialogue in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the National Council for Human Rights in order to present and discuss this draft and open an expanded community dialogue in the coming weeks.
It is noteworthy that the National Alliance for Civil Development Work was launched on March 13, 2022, with the participation of major civil and development institutions in Egypt.
The National Alliance includes the General Union of Associations and NGOs, the Foundation for a Decent Life, the Egyptian House of Zakat and Charity Foundation, the Al-Jude Charitable Foundation, the Orman Association, the Egyptian Food Bank, the Misr Al-Khair Foundation, the Magdi Yacoub Foundation, the National Cancer Institute in all its branches, the Coptic Evangelical Authority, Baheya Foundation, the Ahl Masr Foundation, the Life Makers, the Resala Association, Al-Bakyat al-Salehat Association, the Liver Patient Care Association, Cairo University Hospitals, Al-Arabi Foundation for Community Development, the Dr. Mostafa Mahmoud Association, the Good Makers Foundation, the Care Foundation, and the Justice and Support Foundation.
