Minister of Public Business Sector Hisham Tawfik witnessed on Friday the signing of two cooperation protocols between the Engineering Automotive Manufacturing Co. (EAMCO), Nasr automotive and the Egyptian company Brightskies Technologies with the aim of deepening the localization and development of the auto industry in Egypt.
The 1st protocol between EAMCO and Brightskies will include the development of an electric bus model, whereby the engineering company will produce all of its components, with Bright Skies contributing to the development of the battery and electric propulsion system.
The 2nd protocol signed between El Nasr and Brightskies will include conducting a feasibility study in cooperation between the two sides, with the aim of establishing a research and development center for batteries, control systems and electric propulsion for electric powered cars, based on Brightskies' global experiences in this field.
It is expected that the protocol will pave the way for the establishment of the first Egyptian research and development center for the electric car industry, after the completion of the feasibility study, which will take six months.
The signing of these two agreements is an ambitious step to deepen the localization of the Egyptian technological component in the future auto industry.
On his part, Tawfik affirmed that the cooperation with Brightskies reflects the state’s keenness to maximize partnerships with the private sector, especially with regard to modern technology in light of the revolution in e-vehicles industry.
