NASA's Artemis 1 SLS Passes Wet Dress Rehearsal

NASA Artemis 1 lunar mission complete a new milestone on Monday as it wrapped up the set of tests known as the wet dress rehearsal, Space website reported on Monday.

Those tests included fueling up the Artemis 1 Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, the devices related to the launching the countdown, and the condition of the engines.

However, the Artemis 1 working staff noticed a hydrogen leak during fueling today, and they intended to "mask" the data associated with the issue. In addition, the SLS passed the tests successfully.

Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, Artemis launch director with the Exploration Ground Systems Program at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida said "It's a great day for our team," adding: "Really proud of them working through the loading operations and working through terminal count."

Last April, NASA’s Lunar Artemis 1 mission rehearsals will be postponed as it will use the huge Space Launch System (SLS) rocket to send unmanned orion spacecraft month-long mission around the moon which is expected to start in June.

It was planned that the test of the spacecraft should take place on April 1st, before it was delayed to April 3rd, then it was re-scheduled to April 4.

Finally, it was delayed to the next weekend.

In February, the leading space agency, NASA, announced postponing its lunar mission, Artemis 1, launching once again to April or May, after it was postponed last year to this February.

The manager of the Artemis 1 program Mike Bolger said: “Ultimately, we’re going to launch this flight hardware when the flight hardware is ready and when the team’s ready.”

More adjustments and minor preparations will be given more time due to the delay of the launch.
