The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the successful completion of a launch test for its powerful Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, which is set to carry astronauts into lunar orbit for the first time in more than 50 years.

The milestone marks a crucial step in the agency’s broader Artemis program aimed at advancing deep space exploration.

According to NASA, the test proceeded as planned, with the countdown halted 29 seconds before liftoff in a planned rehearsal scenario.

The agency is expected to announce the final launch date for the mission soon.

The rehearsal was conducted under realistic conditions, including fully fueled tanks and extensive technical checks.

The test took place at Cape Canaveral, Florida, where engineers practiced critical maneuvers and launch procedures to ensure a smooth and successful mission.

The Artemis II mission will be the first crewed flight around the Moon in over half a century.

The mission will include three American astronauts and one Canadian astronaut, highlighting international cooperation in space exploration and reinforcing efforts to expand humanity’s presence beyond Earth orbit.
