NASA successfully extracted breathable oxygen on Mars by converting the carbon dioxide of the Martian air into Earth-like breathable oxygen, Reuters reported on Thursday.

The experiment was conducted by the Perseverance rover's devices that reached the lands of the Red Planet in February.

The extracted amount of oxygen was only 5 grams which is equal to the amount that a human breathes for 10 minutes.

"This the first experimental extraction of a natural resource from another planet's environment for direct use by humans," Nasa asserted.

In February, NASA released the first-ever recorded audio clips on Mars recorded by its Perseverance rover.

Video footage and breathtaking images were released for the first time taken of Mars by the rover since its landing on the surface of the red planet.

Perseverance rover was attached by 25 cameras and two microphones, one of them failed in capturing any sounds while the other caught the sounds of Martian winds and the rover’s noise on the planet.

Moreover, those audio clips were the earliest sounds recorded on another planet.
