Paul Pelosi, the husband of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was arrested for alleged drunk driving after a two-vehicle collision in their home state of California late Saturday, media outlets reported on Monday.
The CHP stated that Paul was driving a 2021 Porsche that was hit by a 2014 Jeep when his car tried to cross a state road in Napa County.
The 82-year old man was booked into the Napa County Detention Center on two DUI-related counts, according to the California Highway Patrol and court records.
He was released Sunday morning on $5,000 bail, court records showed.
"The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast," a statement from Drew Hammill, Nancy's spokesperson, said.
It is worth noting that the U.S. House Speaker tested positive for Covid-19 last April. “After testing negative this week, Speaker Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic,” Hammill tweeted.
