On Thursday, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi headed a delegation of 13 democrats to participate at COP27.
Pelosi said in a statement: “At COP27, as the world stands ‘Together For Implementation,’ our distinguished and experienced delegation will engage in meetings with our partners — as well as civil society, youth, and business leaders — to discuss the work that must be done to continue our progress to advance climate action and protect the planet."
According to E&E news website, the US delegate to COP 27 will discuss the financial aid from developed countries to developing nations after the damages those countries suffer from due to emissions.
It was reported, on Wednesday, that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will hold a meeting with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of COP27.
Senior officials said that President Biden will arrive in Egypt on Friday as part of the US President's trip to attend the meetings of ASEAN, G20, alongside COP27.
Last month, the White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed Biden's visit to Egypt.
“On November 11th, President Biden will attend the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt,” Jean-Pierre said in a statement.
She added: “At COP27, he will build on the significant work the United States has undertaken to advance the global climate fight and help the most vulnerable build resilience to climate impacts, and he will highlight the need for the world to act in this decisive decade.”
Following the climate conference, the American leader will travel to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to participate in the annual U.S.-ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit on 12-13 November.
Then, he will attend the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, which will take place during 13-16 November, according to the White House.
No reports indicated the timing of the anticipated meeting between Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping as both offices are working to arrange such a meeting.
