The statement of the European Parliament published today contains false information with the aim of misleading the global public opinion said Al-Shehabi, considering this statement direct interference in the internal affairs of an independent state which is a founding member of the United Nations, a sovereign state that possesses its own national will and does not accept any external dictates.

Al-Shehabi highlighted that this statement is considered a direct violation of international law and an attempt to reiterate European arrogance and hegemony, which is considered one of the worst eras of human history from the human rights perspective where European countries occupied Egypt and other Arab countries to plunder their wealth.

The head of El Geel Democratic Party added that the European Parliament's statement contained lies and false information that aimed at misleading global public opinion, as well the European public opinion, insulting the Egyptian state, which has the oldest government in history and the greatest civilization in the world.

Al-Shehabi pointed out that the Egyptian elections is run by an independent body; the National Elections Authority, which is an administrative body with a judicial formation and whose decisions are subject to the oversight of the Egyptian judiciary system. The National Elections Authority announced that it stands at the same distance from all candidates and that the elections will be administered in accordance to Egyptian law and the Egyptian constitution in accordance with international elections standards.

The head of El Geel Democratic Party highlighted that the Egyptian government has nothing to do with the process of managing the presidential elections, stressing that there is no truth to what was stated in the European Parliament’s statement regarding the restrictions on some candidates in obtaining agencies for potential candidates.

Al-Shehabi also explained that the National Authority has identified a number of registration offices in cities, centers, and governorates to extract agencies according to a precise system that we have followed.

Accordingly Al-Shehabi added that the claim of some of the potential candidates of them being restricted in obtaining their powers of attorney is a pre-emption of events and a cover-up for their inability to meet the constitutional quorum of the popular powers of attorney. The Egyptian constitution requires a minimum of 25,000 powers of attorney distributed over 15 Egyptian governorates, with a minimum of 1,000 powers of attorney in each governorate.

Nagy Al-Shehabi, called on the European Parliament to refrain from interfering in Egypt’s internal affairs and to pay attention to the affairs of the European citizen whom are already suffering from restrictions in exercising their right to freedom of expression, freedom of religious practices and their right to peaceful demonstrations
