Tunisian fullback Hamdi Nagguez has unilaterally terminated his contract with Zamalek due to his delayed financial dues.
The player thanked the White Castle fans for their support to him, wishing the best of luck to his teammates in coming matches.
On his part, the Tunisian player’s lawyer Anis Ben mime said in statement to Sada El-Balad ‘SEE’ that all termination procedures have been completed after the White Castle’s failure to pay dues of 4 months, adding that the player is now free to join any football club.
He added that Nagguez filed a complaint to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) over failure to receive overdue salaries of four months.
Nagguez, 26, joined the Whites in January 2018 from the Tunisian Club of Etoile Du Sahel. He joined the club in 2013 and since then earned a regular position at the team.
Nagguez played a great role at the Tunisian national team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Zamalek has conceded three unanswered goals on Saturday in its group stage opener against TB Mazembe, putting their head coach Micho’s future in doubt.
It is noteworthy that any player is able to break his contract if the employer breaches or neglects his obligations emerging from the employment contract or law which have material effects on the employment relationship.
Legally, it has been considered that neglecting the payment of two overdue salaries constitutes grounds for cancellation. However, the cancellation must be made before said salaries are paid.
As a general rule, the cancellation must be made within 14 days of observing the grounds. It is essential to note that the other party must be given an opportunity to be heard regarding the reasons for the cancellation before canceling the contract.
