Nafoura Theater Starts Today, Facing Nile Palace Bridge

The Nafoura Theater of the Cairo Opera House is set to start its first concert on Thursday, witnessing the resumption of the activities of the Egyptian Opera House after a four-month closure since the coronavirus outbreak.

the Nafoura Theater is located in front of the Grand Theater facing the main gate and the Nile Palace Bridge, a new idea related to the summer period that favors open-air parties.

Singer Mai Farouk will perform the first concert with some stars of the Opera House led by the Maestro Mostafa Helmy.

In statements to SEE, Dr. Magdy Saber, the chairman of the opera house, whose supervised the process of preparing for the opening of the theater, along with applying the precautionary measures determined by the Cabinet.

Saber pointed out the distance between the audience chairs is 1.5 meters, with a capacity of 400 people.

The chairman of the Opera house noted that it is the idea of Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, which aims to restore opera activity through a theater that combines classic opera performances with the character of summer youth parties.

The theater will host many shows, including ballet performances and other official Opera bands, announcing that the King Mohamed Mounir will perform a concert on July 7.

He added that the main gate was permanently closed and the entry of the audience and workers from the Hanager Gate, where sterilizers are installed.

Wearing face masks is obligatory and the purchase of tickets is through the official website.

"The main gate will be covered to prevent any forms of crowd," he stated, saying the activities will continue until September.
