On Tuesday, young Egyptian actor Adham El Sharkawy was named the first Ambassador for Speak Arabic initiative during his meeting with the Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs.

In this role, he will work to create awareness, provide support to thousands of Egyptian expats in the U.S and encourage all members of the Egyptian community across the world to be involved in the initiative.

Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram appointed the so-called Big Zee as a Global Ambassador for this initiative.

Following the announcement, Elsharkawy declared that he is glad and honoured to be selected as a Global ambassador of Speak Arabic.

Elsharkawy said: "I am fortunate to participate in this cultural programme organised by the Ministry."

According to an official statement released this morning by the Ministry of Emigration, Makram said: "The initiative is important to promote the Arabic language and Egyptian culture among the second and third generations of Egyptian expatriates ."

It's worth mentioning that the “Speak Arabic” initiative was launched by Egypt in October 2020,  to link Egyptians abroad to their motherland.

The purpose of this initiative is to spread knowledge of Egyptian customs and traditions, and preserve the Egyptian identity among ex-pats, according to the Minister.
