North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a high-profile public appearance with his daughter, Ju Ae, during a New Year’s Day visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, a highly symbolic mausoleum honoring the country’s founding leaders, reigniting speculation about a possible succession plan.
Images released by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) showed Ju Ae standing between her parents in the main hall of the mausoleum.
She has appeared with her father in state media with increasing frequency over the past three years.
The visit follows a long-standing North Korean tradition, with Kim routinely paying respects at the mausoleum on major national anniversaries to reinforce the legitimacy of the ruling Kim dynasty in the nuclear-armed state.
Ju Ae was first publicly introduced in 2022 and later made her first appearance outside North Korea in September, when she accompanied her father on a visit to Beijing, his first trip to China in years.
