North Korean leader Kim Jong-un accompanied Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on a tour of the "Weapons Expo - 2023" on Thursday, displaying the latest weapons and technology in North Korea.
The exhibition was sponsored by the North Korean Ministry of Defense to commemorate the seventieth anniversary of their victory in the Korean National Liberation War, which took place between 1950 and 1953, according to North Korea's state radio, Voice of Korea.
Kim visited the exhibition with Shoigu and the Russian military delegation, expressing gratitude for their visit to Pyongyang and their friendly greetings to the North Korean people and state on this "significant event."
According to "Voice of Korea," Kim briefed Shoigu on the new weapons and technology developed in accordance with the defense development plan set by the Eighth Congress of the Korean Workers' Party. He also discussed the global trends and strategies in weapon development.
During their talks, the North Korean leader shared his views on "common interest issues," related to countering "imperialist violence and oppression," the struggle for the sovereignty and interests of both countries, international justice, and peace.
Kim reiterated his confidence that the Russian army and people would achieve great success in their efforts to build a strong state.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had held talks with his North Korean counterpart, Kang Son Nam, in Pyongyang.
