Myanmar's authorities announced on Saturday that the death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck the country on Friday jumped to 1007, with 2389 others injured.
BBC cited authorities, 30 people are still missing following the earthquake, which also destroyed 1591 homes in Mandalay, the epicenter of the quake.
The 7.7-magnitude earthquake, which hit central Myanmar on Friday, caused significant damage to infrastructure, including bridges, roads, and buildings. The ruling military council has issued an appeal for international humanitarian aid, while a state of emergency has been declared in six regions across the country.
