In Pics: Must-Know Facts about Toshka, After Sisi's Recent Visit

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi visited on Thursday Toshka which is the largest project of its kind in the agricultural land reclamation sector in the Middle East.

Sisi made an inspection tour in the South Valley in Aswan and witnessed the beginning of the wheat harvest season on Toshka’s agricultural lands.

The development process in Toshka is part of the state’s efforts to establish integrated agricultural societies with great economic returns. Such societies would help ensure food security, increase exports, make a breakthrough in agriculture, and provide thousands of job opportunities within a comprehensive development renaissance.

Toshka is one of the mega national projects that was a great success. Under the directives of President Sisi, the state bodies have succeeded to revive it by finding solutions to all the problems hindering the project from achieving its goals and to harness the potential for its success.

Tremendous efforts have been made to make this project a success in all aspects in terms of construction, infrastructure, and technicalities or with regard to providing irrigation water and energy sources, establishing axes to link the project to the national road network, as well as providing financial resources for all these elements.

In December, 2021, Sisi inspected reclamation of agricultural land and wheat and palm farms projects in the Toshka region in the South of the valley.

Earlier, Sisi called for adopting a comprehensive strategic approach that achieves the interest and goals of the state which are represented in increasing the productive agricultural area and building modern urban communities in North and Central Sinai and the South Valley.
