The Internal Medicine Department at the Facutly of Medicine, Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) will organize on June 17 an International Conference under the motto “Internal Medicine Challenges” to discuss Hepatitis C.

Chairman of Internal Medicine Department Dr. Omar Heikal said the conference will shed light on Hepatitis C in Egypt and the role played by the government to combat it, in addition to other liver diseases.

In a press release, Heikal added that the conference will tackle efforts exerted in “100 Million Healthy Lives” and the national campaign to combat Hepatitis C in the country.

The campaign targets hepatitis C and chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity.

The conference will be attended by University President Dr. Mohamed al-Azazi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Fawzia Abul Fotouh and a number of lecturers of the Internal Medicine faculties in Egypt, Arab and foreign countries. Also, doctors at Soad Kafafi University Hospital will be present under the auspices of Chairman of the Board of Trustees Khaled al-Toukhi.

The conference will also offer time to assistant lecturers to present rare medical cases and how they dealt with them. The Internal Medicine Department exerted strenuous efforts in the administration of intensive care units.

Dr. Heikal said he hoped the conference will present a number of medical programs to benefit the Internal Medicine Department, adding that the conference will be a golden chance for the medical staff and students to enrich the participation and involvement in the medical discussions of the various cases.

In the recent years, the faculty of medicine has become a place to pursue a medical education by shifting to competency based medical education with fully updated facilities, a redesigned integrated modular curriculum that introduces early clinical experiences, and new academic partnerships and global initiatives.
