President of Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) Mohamed Hassan El Azzazy announced the establishment of a centre for Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
“The centre comes within the framework of the university’s efforts to upgrade its general performance and to become a smart university”, El Azzazy said in a statement.
The statement added that the university is implementing the directives of the political leadership on the importance of maximizing the benefit of the Fourth Industrial Revolution through transforming all Egyptian universities into smart ones within two years.
He pointed out that this centre will significantly help in increasing the university contributions in the areas of development and maintaining the country’s progress among developed world countries.
On his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Saeed Tolba, Vice-President of MUST, said that preparations for constructing this centre have been initiated since last March upon a decision of the university’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees Khaled El-Toukhy to prepare ‘MUST’ to become a smart university.
The university is currently training highly-qualified human cadres capable of progressively improving the educational process, serving students and preserving the environment through the development of various software and systems of artificial intelligence, robotics, embedded systems, Internet of things and block-chain with a view to achieving the university’s national strategy that comes in line with Egypt 2030 Sustainable Development vision.
Tolba added that the centre aims to gain the confidence of the Egyptian international communities in the outputs of the educational process at the university, and the establishment of the principle of community participation of civil society institutions and associations interested in education to join together in creating smart societies.
He pointed out that the centre will assume the responsibility of training students, researchers and other community members in the field of artificial intelligence technology to be applied in various aspects of life and sectors, in addition to establishing reciprocal relationships with bodies and organizations responsible for artificial intelligence at the regional and international levels in order to keep abreast of developments in the field of artificial intelligence technology and emerging technologies.
