Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and government efficiency advocate, has made headlines again with his outspoken criticism of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk referred to the agency as a "criminal organization" and declared that it was time for it to cease to exist.
Musk’s comments follow an earlier post in which he described USAID as a "nest of extreme left-wing Marxists" who "hate the United States."
His remarks have sparked significant debate and garnered attention for their stark condemnation of the federal agency that plays a central role in administering US foreign aid.
The timing of Musk’s remarks coincides with reports that the administration of former President Donald Trump had put approximately 60 senior officials from USAID on leave.
This action was part of a broader move by the US government to suspend aid to certain countries, sparking concerns about the future of international development programs.
The White House confirmed that Trump had signed an executive order to halt US foreign development aid for 90 days, citing the need for a reassessment of how these programs align with US foreign policy objectives.
