Authorities said three young children were found stabbed to death Saturday morning, leading to a search that resulted in their mother being arrested in central California.

The victims' grandmother made the shocking discovery at around 9:30 a.m. in the 8000 block of Reseda Boulevard.

Authorities said that the children ages were 3, 2 and 6 months. Firefighters and paramedics in Los Angeles declared their deaths at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police said in a tweet that included the mother's name "Liliana Carrillo"  along her picture: "At this time, we ask the public to help locate the person of interest in this case, a 30-year-old Hispanic woman."

Police have been unable to locate the victim's mother, known as Liliana Carrillo, for several hours, yet, police authorities confirmed that Carrillo had been detained in Ponderosa District, Tulare County, in a case, whom she is the only suspect in.

"She committed a horrific crime here and followed it up with another crime around here, and these behaviors are what ultimately led to her arrest," said First Lieutenant Ben Fernandez.

Investigators are still trying to determine the motive and say they are interviewing family members to find out what led to the crime.

She never heard any yelling coming from the apartment, only the sounds of cartoons, which she said could be heard at all hours, sometimes as late as 10 p.m. She also never saw police respond to the unit before Saturday.

One of the neighbors said that didn't hear any screams coming from the apartment, only the sounds of the cartoon, which said it could be heard at all times.
