More than 80% of hospitals and health centres in Sudan’s Khartoum State have resumed operations, the Sudanese Ministry of Health said on Wednesday.

The announcement signals a gradual restoration of essential healthcare services in the capital, which has been heavily affected by ongoing conflict and disruptions to infrastructure.

The ministry did not provide further details on the timeline for the reopening of remaining facilities or the operational capacity of those that have resumed services.

Khartoum’s health sector has faced significant strain since the outbreak of fighting, with damage to hospitals, shortages of medical supplies and limited access for patients and staff.

Efforts are ongoing to restore services and improve access to care, particularly for vulnerable populations, amid continued humanitarian challenges.
