Al Ahly's new head coach Pitso Mosimane said on Friday that the Red Devils can lift the CAF Champions League title.

Mosimane has been named as Al Ahly's new head coach on Thursday to succeed former Manager Rene Weiler, who left the team after claiming the Egyptian Premier League title.

In statements to Al Ahly's official website, Mosimane said that the Red Devils are a strong team, as they reached the Champions League semi-finals, and this is great evidence, showing that they can reach the final and claim the title.

Al Ahly are set to take on Wydad on October 17 in the first leg of the semi-finals.

"Al Ahly have great players in the continent, but there are some issues, which need improvement in the team and it is a natural matter," Mosimane said,

"I have four games in the Egyptian League and that will give me a chance to know the players very well, before the semi-finals," the 56-year-old manager concluded.

Mosimane landed in Cairo earlier on Friday to start his adventure with the Egyptian League champions as he conveyed a special message to Al Ahly's fans.

His message is as follows:

“It is a big dream and the most exciting thing for me is to meet Al Ahly, passionate supporters, the fans that took my heart and deserve my respect during the previous fixtures,” said Mosimane in a video posted to his Twitter account.

He continued: “Al Ahly is the greatest club in the world, and Al Ahly fans are the best and I know your passion for your club, and I am sure that you will support me to achieve our dreams together,”

“You are the shield and the sword. I am counting on you. I am counting on the great history, the professionalism, and the respect of both,” Mosimane added.

“We are in this together to keep Al Ahly always at the top, and the club will always be number one by your persistent support, we are all together in good times and bad times, Al Ahly above all,” he concluded.
