Russia denounced the assassination attempt on the head of the Russian House in the Central African Republic (CAR) Dmitry Sytyi, affirming that it is nothing but a terrorist attack.
Yevgeny Primakov, head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation, said: “Doctors are now fighting for his life. All our prayers now are for Dmitry's recovery.”
In the same vein, Primakov noted that a letter Syty received in November included a picture of his son, who resides in France, and a warning that next time he will get his son's head in a parcel “if the Russians don’t get out of the African continent and leave the doors wide open to the French.”
In response, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna called his claims false and called them "a good example of Russian propaganda and the fanciful imagination that sometimes characterizes it," according to AFP.
On Friday, an explosive device wounded the partner Russian House in Bangui.
The Russian embassy reported that Sytyi was badly injured in the explosion of an anonymous parcel he had received and was hospitalized.
Moreover, the security of the Russian embassy in the CAR was strengthened after the incident.
