The Russian Foreign Ministry announced a permanent ban on the entry of 99 Canadian nationals as a countermeasure.
The ministry said - in a statement, today, Monday - that Russia has a traditionally friendly attitude towards the people of Canada and has a lot in common with them.
The ministry added that the ban was not targeted at ordinary Canadian people, because it can distinguish the current political elite of Canada with the Canadian people.
It explained that the ban list includes legislators, officials at various levels, businessmen, directors of defense companies, experts and media executives who provide analytical and propaganda support.
