On Thursday, Morocco's King Mohammed VI received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Royal Palace of Fes (Palais Royal Dar El Makhzen).
The king was the first person, who participated in the Moroccan government's vaccination campaign in the country against COVID-19.
The government targets to vaccinate at least 80% of the Moroccan population for stopping the tragic outbreak of the virus.
Furthermore, the king directed the government to provide the vaccine for free for both residents and citizens after the age of 17.

The state received the first shipment of AstraZeneca-Oxford Vaccine early this week, followed by receiving the second shipment of the Sinopharm vaccine.
Morocco recorded more than 469,000 COVID-19 cases and 8224 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
